Reproduction

EVSSARin (European Veterinary Society for Small Animal Reproduction) johtoryhmän jäsen ja rahastonhoitaja 2017–2023. Erityisenä mielenkiinnonkohteena ovat tiineyden ja riskisynnyttäjien seuranta. Väitöskirja: Canine dystocia: oxytocin receptors, uterine inertia, and cardiotocography
My name is Dr. Sandra Goericke-Pesch. I was born in Krefeld, Germany and always wanted to be a veterinarian why I started studying veterinary medicine after school in 1996. I graduated as a veterinarian in 2001 from Justus-Liebig-University, Giessen, Germany. During the studies I was very much attracted by reproduction why I spent my time at the respective clinic. After graduating, I started working at the Clinic for Obstetrics, Gynecology and Andrology for Large and Small Animals, Gießen, initially as a doctoral student/intern. I became a research assistant in 2002 at the clinic and worked there until 2013. From 2008, I was in charge of the small animal reproductive division in the clinic, but also worked on large animals, including reproductive surgeries, teaching and research. During the whole time I finished my Dr. med. Vet., did my German and European specialisation in reproduction (Dipl. ECAR) and started my habilitation (finished in 2014). In 2013, together with the family we moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, where I worked at the Section for Reproduction and Obstetrics as Associate Professor. Since 2/2018 I am a full Professor for Reproduction in dogs and cats at the University of Veterinary Medicine Hannover, Foundation, Germany. Together with my group we are doing the daily small animal reproduction work including surgeries, teaching and research. My main research focus is on male infertility, contraception in male and female, uterine inertia in the bitch and environmental effects on reproduction. I was actively involved in the board of EVSSAR getting to know many nice colleagues sharing my interest in small animal reproduction. Luckily, I also got the opportunity to see many places in the world when teaching small animal reproduction and sharing knowledge and gaining further experiences myself – I am very grateful for this. When I am not working, I enjoy life with my family, our 4 greyhounds, 2 cats and 2 horses – considering what to do next in reproduction.
