Gayle Hallowell was born in Staffordshire in the UK and graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2002. She then completed a rotating large animal internship and internal medicine and emergency and critical care residencies at the Royal Veterinary College. She then moved to the University of Nottingham to undertake an equine cardiology PhD and stayed on as staff for 15 years progressing to Professor. After a short stint leading professional development for IVC Evidensia, she returned to clinical practice where she is Co-director of Medicine Vet Equine Referrals, an ambulatory and telemedicine referral practice in the UK. She is a trustee for SPANA and Editor-In-Chief for the Wiley Journal Veterinary Medicine and Science. In her spare time, she loves walking her labrador Paddington and caring for her menagerie of animals as well as learning and developing her photography skills.
