Dr. Lorenz is currently Head of the Cattle Health Service at the Bavarian Animal Health Service in Poing, Germany as well as Adjunct Associate Professor at University College Dublin (UCD), Ireland. Previously she has been teaching Bovine Medicine at UCD from 2007 to January 2016. Dr. Lorenz graduated from the Veterinary School of the University of Munich in 1992 after which she prepared her doctoral thesis in the area of calf diseases at the Clinic for Ruminants at the same university. She subsequently took up a lecturer position at the Clinic for Ruminants and was awarded her Habilitation in 2007. Through her work there, she acquired a vast experience in the internal medicine of the individual animal as well as in the investigation of calf-related herd health problems. Her research interests concentrate on the metabolic alterations associated with calf diarrhoea as well as calf diseases on a herd level.
